'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess promptly slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This sealed an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after Orient changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they always find their target and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for club and country, performing well for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the lads but I'm hoping to be the following person to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
